Recommended Supplies

Preparing for your new kitten is an exciting part of the journey. To help make the transition smooth, we recommend having a few essential supplies ready before your EastCoastRagdolls kitten comes home. These items will help your kitten feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for from day one.

Everything Your Kitten Needs for a Great Start

Welcoming a Ragdoll kitten into your home is a joyful experience. Having the right supplies ready before your kitten arrives will help create a safe, comfortable, and loving environment. From feeding essentials to toys and grooming tools, these recommended items will help your kitten settle in quickly and feel at home.

Food & Water Essentials

A healthy feeding setup is one of the most important things for your kitten’s first days at home. Choose quality products that are easy to clean and suitable for young kittens.

  • High-quality kitten food recommended for growth and development. We use Nulo for dry food and for wet food we often times mix it up, but Tiny Tigers shreds is a favorite!
  • We will send all kittens home with a sample of their current food to help the transition
  • Food and water bowls made from stainless steel or ceramic
  • A feeding mat to keep the area clean and organized
  • Fresh water available at all times and changed daily, bacteria grows fast and you want clean water for your kitty

Comfort & Bedding

Kittens need a cozy, quiet place where they can rest and feel secure. Soft bedding and a calm sleeping area will help them adjust more quickly to their new environment.

  • Soft kitten bed or blanket for warmth and comfort
  • A quiet sleeping space away from loud activity
  • A small crate or carrier for safe travel and vet visits
  • Ragdolls love cat trees, the taller the better! We recommend getting at least one cat tree and also scratching posts

Litter Box Supplies

A clean litter setup helps your kitten feel comfortable and supports good habits from the beginning. Keep the litter box in an easy-to-reach, low-traffic area of your home.

  • Low-entry litter box suitable for kittens
  • Unscented litter for a gentle introduction
  • We use catit for litter and all kittens leave with a sample when they go home
  • We introduce them to litter robots, but we also keep traditional open top litter boxes for while they are young so they will be prepared for either option
  • Keep in mind Ragdolls want a clean litter box, so steel is good for that, but also regular cleaning is essential

Toys & Enrichment

Playtime helps kittens build confidence, stay active, and develop healthy habits. A variety of safe toys can keep them entertained and mentally stimulated throughout the day.

  • Our Ragdolls will leave with toys they are familiar with, but we always recommend getting any you think they will enjoy
  • Interactive wand toys for bonding time, anything where you can play with them at the same time is good
  • Feather toys and bells often are some of their favorites and small toys they carry in their mouths to play fetch – yes Ragdolls can play fetch
  • Scratching post or scratch pad
